Ephesians Study

In our Bible study small group, we are beginning a new book of the Bible to go in-depth: Ephesians.
Ephesians is an "epistle," meaning it was a letter meant to give instructions.
So to begin, we must observe the life of Paul, the apostle. If you look at the story of how Paul became a Christian, it's astounding to see how an encounter with Jesus shook his whole world. See Acts 9 for the amazing conversion of Saul.
So, Paul became a missionary that would impact the whole Christian world. In the book of Ephesians, he writes to the people of Ephesus from prison: many years after his 3-year stay in Ephesus. The Ephesians lived in a pluralistic world: a world that accepted different culture, races, beliefs...kinda like our world today. Ephesus, I think was one of the major cities in Minor Asia at the time...possibly...around Turkey. So it was a metropolitan city and Paul is noticing that the Christian people were starting to just get "mixed in" with the pluralistic society of Ephesus and were starting to get confused as to how a Christian was to live...kinda like our culture today.
So I believe this will be a great study as how to live in a modern world as a Christian today. It's interesting to know that the Bible holds True to us today as much and as powerful as it did for the first Believers.
